Joe and Anthony Russo, hot off the box office blast of their Captain America: Civil War, haveunveiled more details of a local-language Chinese superhero movie they’ve been working on. InBeijing for the China premiere of Civil War, the brothers said their China-based film companyAnthem is teaming with Beijing FangJin Visual Media Culture Communication Co. to create anaction sci-fi film titled The Hero’s Awakening. The Chinese director is Feng Mushui, who previouslyhelmed Demon Warrior, a local-language film produced by Jiekang Xiaoyao Film. He will co-directwith American storyboard artist Anthony Leonardi (Game Of Thrones, The Jungle Book, Water ForElephants) who also helmed Nothing Left To Fear. The movie would be in Mandarin for the China market only. On October start date is planned. According to local media, Joe Russo said during a signing ceremony announcing the deal that hehoped to be able to bring Chinese stories to the big screen, and Hero’s Awakening would bewholly Chinese.
