东洞庭湖东洞庭湖位于长江中游荆江江段南侧，总面积1328平方公里，占洞庭湖总面积的49．3％，在东、西、南三个洞庭湖泊中，东洞庭湖是洞庭湖的本底，是中国第一大河一长江中游进行水体交换唯一保存的湖盆，是当今世界上历史悠久，保存完整的大型淡水湖泊湿地之一。一、湿地概况(一)自然资源东洞庭湖湿地滩涂、沼泽密布，沟港、河汉交织，近周系河湖物沉积的平原，土地辽阔，气候温和，独特的湿地生态环境，孕育了大量依赖湿地多样性生物，所储存的生物具有物种古老独特、种类丰富多样的特点。不仅是我国重要的冬候鸟越冬地和夏候鸟繁殖地，而且是长江流域永生动物回游的重要场所。丰富的湿生和“永生生物与多样的湿地环境，为水禽提供了理想的栖息地，云集了大量珍稀物种。1、动物资源。1986年以来，保护区会同日本兹贺县、农林局、日本野雁保护协会、芬兰森林和国家公园管理局、欧洲自然保护联盟、国际鹤类基金会以及湖南师大、上海自然博物馆、华东师大、中南林学院、湖南省林业厅等单位，对东洞庭潮湿地进行了连续不断的科学考察，基本掌握了湿地动物资源，经专家认定的野生动物达400种。鸟类资源。共发现鸟类16目47科297种，其中属国家一级保护的有白鹊、黑鹊、白鹤、白头鹤、大鸨、中华秋沙鸭、白尾海雕7种；二级保护的有白琵鹭、灰鹤、天鹅、鸳鸯、小白额雁等31种。国际协约指定保护的59种。在鸟类考察记录中，曾一次最多记录到白鹳802只，白头鹤159只，白鹤37只，白琵鹭1100只，小白额雁13700，冬候鸟迁徙高峰期栖鸟总量达1000万只以上。鱼类资源。区内发现鱼类12目23科114种，既有江湖迥游性鱼类，又有江海性迥游性鱼类，属国家一级保护的有中华鲟、白鲟2种；二级保护的有胭指鱼、文昌鱼2种，年鲜鱼捕捞量2万吨。其它．水生动物资源。已发现有豚类、软体类、甲壳类、腹足类、瓣腮类、头足类、爬行类等水生动物68种。国家一级保护的有“水中熊猫”之称的白暨豚，国家二级保护的有江豚。2、植物资源。已记录到维管束植物159科1186种，其中：被子植物135科1129种，裸子植物5科25种；厥类植物19科32种。芦苇和荻是本区最有经济价值的植物。古生代或中生代遗留下来的残存种有南方红豆杉、银杏、芒箕、石松等，中国特有种有银杏、苦槠、马尾松、小叶柝、杉、喜树等。列入中国重点保护的植物有一级3种，二级31种。在中国植物区系中属华东区系，地理成分交汇错杂，除中亚分布成分外，其它14个分布区成分都有一定的代表种。植被类型复杂，有9个植被62个群系，展示了植物多样性保护研究的巨大价值和潜力。3、土地资源。东洞庭湖湿地近周系河湖物沉积的广阔平原、沼泽，土壤分为湖潮土和河潮土两个亚类，湖内洲滩土壤分为潮土、沼泽土和沼泽化革甸土，土层深厚，有机质含量为2％，PH值6.8——8．6，垦种指数高达30％以上，土地开发利用率很高。4、水资源。东洞庭湖总面积1328平方公里，是洞庭湖当今最大的唯一通江的水域盆体，承纳湘、资、沅、澧四水，吞吐长江水量，来水总面积130平方公里，每年平均过湖水量3120亿立方米，其中：来自长江的过水量1180亿立方米，来自“四水”过水量1680亿立方米，区间过水量260亿立方米。汛期过湖水量2330亿立方米。湘江直接穿湖达江，常年湖容量178亿立方米，水深4—22米，最大水位高差?7．76米。水体混浊，因湖水量大，自净能力强，据环保监测部门抽样检验，各种污染物都有检出，但含量不高，水质条件好，主要合毒物只有锌一种，含量为0．02毫克/升，其它各项指标均未超标，符合国家二级水标准。5、气候资源。东洞庭湖湿地位于中亚热带向北亚热带过渡气候区，因受东洞庭湖庞大水体的影响，具有明显温和湿润气候，气候各因子多年平均值为：气温17℃，水温17．5℃，日照1800小时，总降水量1200—1300毫米，无霜期258—275天，降雪期11天。冬候鸟越冬期月平均气温9．5℃，极端最低日气温-12℃，总降水429，5毫米。
