雅思口语｜新冠疫情的相关表达~（干货满满 建议收藏）

提到疫情，最先想到的就是隔离，那么隔离除了isolate，大家还能想到其他词吗？

有同学还知道另一个词 —quarantine

但是这两个词是互通的吗？究竟有没有区别？

先来看看《经济学人》中的这期报导：

“One approach is mitigation, "flattening the curve" to make the pandemic less intense by, say,isolating casesandquarantine infected households.The other is to suppress it with a broad range of measures, including shutting in everybody, other than those who cannot work from home, and closing schools and universities. Mitigation curbs the pandemic, suppression aims to stop it in its tracks.”

不知同学们发现了没？这两个词的区别就在于使用对象不同：

isolation是隔离已经感染的病人，即patients/cases/suspected cases;

quarantine是隔离可能感染者，如病患的密切接触者、一般接触者、外来或入境人员、居家隔离人员，以观察是否感染。总之quarantine形容的是并未感染的人！

原来并非同义词，还是有着本质区别的呢！
