中国美术学院（国美，China Academy of Art）于1928年始建，坐落于浙江省杭州市，前身是国立艺术院，是中国第一所综合性的国立高等艺术学府，由教育部、文化部和浙江省人民政府共建。其还是中国最早的艺术革命团体发祥地，中国唯一一个美术学国家重点学科所在地，国家“双一流”世界一流学科建设高校。

该校于1929年，曾更名为国立杭州艺术专科学校；1938年，改为国立艺术专科学校。1950年，成为中央美术学院华东分院；1958年，更名为浙江美术学院；1993年，更名为中国美术学院。2000年以前隶属文化部管理，2000年成为省部共建高校。，获批成为浙江省人民政府与教育部、文化部共建高校。其是中国最早开展研究生教育的高等学校之一，中国最早实施设计学的高等学府，入选国家建设高水平大学公派研究生项目、国家“特色重点学科项目”建设高校、中国政府奖学金来华留学生接收院校、全国首批深化创新创业教育改革示范高校、首批国家动画教学研究基地、首批教育部来华留学示范基地。

China Academy of Art (Gome), formerly known as the National Academy of Art, was founded in 1928 in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is the first comprehensive national higher Art institution in China. It is co-built by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province. It is also the birthplace of China's earliest art revolutionary groups, the only national key discipline of fine arts in China, and the national "Double First-Class" university for the construction of world-class disciplines.

In 1929, the school was renamed National Hangzhou Art Academy; In 1938, it was changed into a national art academy. In 1950, it became East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 1958, it was renamed Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts. In 1993, it was renamed China Academy of Art. Before 2000, it was under the administration of the Ministry of Culture. In 2000, it became a university co-built by the province and the ministry. In , it was approved to be a university jointly built by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture. It is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in China to carry out graduate education, and the earliest institutions of higher learning in China to implement design.
