船用电器用于船舶上的电器。随着船舶电气化、自动化程度的日益提高，船舶电站的功率越来越大，船用配电电器（如各种熔断器和断路器等）的作用越来越重要。此外，船用的各种动力设备，如舵机、锚机、起货机和绞缆机等，由于工作状况复杂，负荷变化较大，故对其电力拖动中所用的船用控制电器（如各种接触器、继电器、控制器、主令电器、电阻器和变阻器等）也有较高的要求。船用电器的工作条件比陆地严酷。正常的环境温度可达40～45℃；空气的相对湿度为95％，有凝露，并存在盐雾；海船有周期性的横倾(22.5°)和纵倾(10°)以及长期横倾(15°)；振动大并有突发性冲击;在某些舱室中还存在油汽、蒸汽和爆炸性气体的侵蚀；船用电器对无线电的干扰要小。因此，要求船用电器工作时要保证安全性、可靠性，同时具有互换性，在体积、重量等方面也有较高的要求。为耐冲击的需要，船用断路器、接触器和热继电器均装有应急锁扣装置。一种船用热继电器的触头部分锁扣原理见图。动触头与在左边的静触头闭合后接通电路。当继电器受到强烈冲击时，两钢球吸收冲击能量，产生向中间运动的力，并推动跳子沿箭头A方向运动，其下端压住触头,限制了动触头的弹跳运动或跳离静触头的误动作，从而保证触头系统在受冲击的情况下可靠地工作。
